The Truth On MLM

The truth on MLM is really not a secret like so many tout. All one needs to know is the right information and they will be well on their way to succeeding at MLM. But first, let me tell you a little history about how I learned how to separate the real mlm truth from all the so-called 'truth' about mlm.

I'm a displaced Canadian living in Phoenix Arizona since 1992. My regular day job income is as a government environmental specialist employee.

Basically what that means is that for the last dozen or so years I've helped people stay out of environmental and legal hot water. I take a good look at a situation and then I recommend the best course of action so that projects are done in a legal manner.

I was first introduced to Network Marketing in 1986 but have only been seriously networking since early 1998.

I caught the MLM bug this time around when I watched a late-night infomercial in 1997.

Eventually, it made so much sense to me that network marketing was a viable opportunity for any person who wasn't incredibly talented or "smart" to make an income from. People who weren't...

...doctors

...lawyers

...business conglomerate owners

...successful inventors

...or even politicians.

I also realised the potential power of the concepts of leveraged income and residual income.

These concepts are the only true ways to make a good stab at long-lasting wealth, for the average Joe(sephine).

I ask you...in what other business can you get started in for usually less than $500 and then turn your 40-hour-a-week efforts at your J-O-B into 4,000-hours-a-week through networking?

MLM's the only one I know of.

Anyway, I've been involved with two network marketing companies in the last five years. The first multi-level company failed me. Although they were in their third year of business, they went under about nine-months after I joined them.

I've enrolled as customers, fellow distributors, and business-builders well-over 100 people and I got a "wealth" of experience during this time.

If I could do it all over again, armed with the knowledge about the truth on mlm that I've picked up along the way, I would do a whole bunch of things differently.

I would not make many of the decisions I made. Decisions made from simple naivete and lack of proper information about the truth about MLM and the reality about doing MLM out there in the grown-up world.

Network marketing can be so incredibly lucrative, and destructive, depending on how you work it, or not.

I wanted it to work for me so I became a serious student of it. I've spent over $1,000 on books and tapes including reading over 60 books and listening to over 200 tapes on the subject of MLM.

But I didn't do all of this before I started networking... I did this during my networking years.

And throughout it all I've learned a whole bunch of the "insider" information which is the real truth on MLM. Information the average networker is just not privy to because they usually quit before they learn the truth about MLM and what network marketing/MLM really has to offer.

I did so many things that I TOTALLY believed at the time would work without a doubt. If only I knew more at THAT time...

I seriously worked at my networking efforts. I wasn't one of those folk's who pokes at this like a cat with a fuzzy mouse toy. I went into this full force...

• I made my "list" of over 150 people. I eventually spoke with about two-thirds of them about my business.

• At one point I was making about 600 phone calls a month to cold prospects.

• I personally reached out to about 30,000 (!) people through various massive action cold prospecting techniques.

• I've done ...postcards ...co-ops ...mailers ...ads...flyers ...posters ...faxes ...business cards ...and buttons.

• I've gone to the hotel meetings, the coffeeshop meetings, and attended the regional conferences after driving for over 18-hours to get to them.

• I've read the books, listened to the tapes, wrote my heart out on 'vision' stuff, drove my wife to the point of frustration at times, and mentally quit this whole MLM hamster-wheel-trip to no-where-fast more than a few times.

Well, I decided that this information about the truth on MLM...the information I picked up along the way... needed to be shared with more people beginning in MLM.

Why?

.....Because no one's talking about it!

It's like the truth on MLM is some big TABOO - hush-hush subject that beginning networkers aren't supposed to know.

It's not like MLM ISN'T supposed to have negative aspects to it and I was mislead about that. That would be an unreal expectation.

Everything has its downside.

It's just that networkers have enough going against them on their path (or battle) to success...they don't need to be walking blindly forward into the war-zone.

We're all grown-ups here so why not have the TOTAL PICTURE so we can make an informed, educated, intelligent decision about our future and how we want to shape it through our actions.

Actions based on the TRUTH. The truth on MLM.

I believe that if I can positively impact the decisions that beginning networkers make through my sharing this information about the truth on MLM, then I've more than succeeded at my intent with this site.

What I mean is...if some people after reading what I've written here about the truth on mlm decide that networking isn't for them, then GREAT! Is-MLM-For-You.com did its job. Because networking isn't for everybody.

And if I saved someone from maybe losing their house or their marriage over a business decision based on incomplete information being provided to them, then I can sleep at night knowing that I've once again kept someone out of "hot water".

I'm not doing that to you.

...This site is more about what ways NOT to do network marketing so that you succeed by default. But the key here is to be doing SOMETHING.

Something...some actions...that you won't get beaten-up doing because you aren't jumping into a 60-year-old war that you didn't start.

What this means is that by avoiding the land mines as you move forward, you make it out of the battlezone unfazed and wound-free.
