MLM Fraud May Get Others, But Not YOU...
...If you protect yourself from MLM fraud by FIRST learning what it REALLY is, what it is NOT, and what to do about it.
Let's start out by making sure that we're all on the same track as to just exactly what MLM type fraud is. I would define a fraud as a deception that was intentionally done so that the person or company committing the deception could come out 'ahead'.
Or to put it more simply...
A Fraud Could be Defined as a 'Trick'. But We're NOT Talking Magic Here.
Although sometimes your money could disappear pretty quickly when you've been a victim of MLM fraud.
Okay, so a fraud is when you've been tricked, deceived, duped, taken advantage of...usually for a financial gain, on the fraudulent party's behalf.
Now it is pretty obvious that you won't be able to stop MLM fraud from being attempted so the next best thing you can do is to be able to recognize attempts at MLM fraud when you can so that you can ensure you're not the next victim of MLM type fraud.
And how do you do this?
Through having a good understanding of what MLM fraud is, and how prevalent, or not, MLM type fraud is today in the MLM industry.
Well, let me give you a few examples of what MLM fraud may at first appear like:
- You speak to a current MLM distributor and you're told that MLM is easy
- You speak to a current MLM distributor and you're told that anyone can do MLM
- You're told that everyone wants the product that the company is selling
- You're told that everyone needs the product that the company is trying to hock
- You're told that if you follow the (Internet) based system the company is using that you will succeed and make money
- You're guaranteed success, money, position, results as it relates to your MLM efforts at business building
- You're told that if you join today you'll be given free mlm leads
- You're told that if you join today you'll have several people placed under you in your new organization to get you started right now
- The company pays out an extremely high recruiting bonus (the money you get when you enroll someone under you)
- You're told that all you have to do is sign up and the rest is done for you
- You're told that your business will build itself
Now let's detail this...
You can be told that MLM is easy.
You can be told that everyone needs the product.
You can be given free leads (or free anything else).
But you cannot be told or guaranteed any of the other stuff without there being the potential, or the high potential, for some sort of deception occurring and this being considered MLM fraud. And most people don't know this.
They just get caught up in the whole MLM excitement thing, the whole MLM emotional thing, when they first find out about MLM and then they fall victim to the one thing that virtually all folks do when they first discover MLM...
They go blind. Figuratively at least.
You see, people may join a deal based on some things that they've been told.
...And things that they've been promised.
...And things they've been guaranteed.
And then they find out that it was all a trick to get them involved.
...And to get their enrollment money.
...And their money to set up a website for them.
...And their money for training materials.
...And their money for leads and product and business stuff.
But you know what? For the most part - the people doing this deceptive stuff don't even know that what they're doing can constitute fraud.
Again,...
MLM Fraud is Almost ALWAYS a Case of the Unknowing Commiting Acts of Ignorance
...And I mean 'ignorance' in a good way.
And they do this based on what THEY were told.
You see, I remember a successful MLM'er once stating that she came to a realization that kind of blew her away.
She realized that the 95 percent of the folks who've never made any money in MLM are training the 95 percent of folks who don't make any money in MLM.
It is kind of a profound truth.
And these are the folks who innocently commit MLM fraud and repeat it to unsuspecting people like you.
So what does this MLM fraud stuff boil down to?
Education.
Knowledge.
Understanding.
Insight.
Awareness.
Truth.
And on who's part? All involved.
The company.
The distributor.
The prospect.
You see, when a company blatantly commits some act of MLM fraud in the form of trickery and deception to get people to get involved with their company and program, there truly is no excuse for that. And that is how the federal government views MLM fraud committed at this level in MLM too.
MLM companies are supposed to know better from the start and not resort to MLM fraud to get folks involved and take their money. So it is only right that they are legally pursued for committing MLM fraud.
But when it comes to the grassroots distributor, an act of MLM fraud in almost all cases stems from a true act of ignorance. And although ignorance in some cases is not a legal defense for MLM fraud, it is viewed differently, when required.
If a distributor blatantly commits deceptive acts and does all that MLM guarantees stuff and the misleading practices stuff, it doesn't take a nuclear physicist to figure out that this is MLM fraud. And the person SHOULD be pursued and prosecuted for MLM fraud as local laws allow.
But the average (wo)man, in my opinion, is another story and should be viewed differently.
And this person is someone that you can learn to detect. And then protect yourself from being a victim of MLM fraud.
How? Well, for starters...
- When you talk to MLM distributors trying to recruit you into a deal truly listen to what they're saying and how they're saying it.
- Look closely at their website and read the fine print.
- Detail the printed material you're given and match it up against what the distributor told you.
- Trust your gut. It's better than a divining rod at times.
Because I'll bet you good money that more often than not you are being told and shown things and led to believe things and you come away from there thinking MLM is all nothing but MLM fraud.
And more often than not the supposed act of MLM fraud is not that but simply an example of this ignorance I say most people have.
So if you stay awake to what you're hearing and seeing, and apply logic and practicality and truth to what is in front of you I can pretty much guarantee you that you won't be the next victim of MLM fraud.
Yes, I did say 'guarantee'. But you should know by now that I mean it in a good, truthful way, right?
